Scientific research and academic services division
1. Overall Role of the Division
The Division of Scientific Research and Academic Services acts as a secretariat to the Dean in managing and promoting scientific research and academic services, cooperation, planning, and creating conditions for staff capacity development in order to improve the quality of scientific research and provide academic services to society.
2. Duties
2.1 The Scientific Research Management and Promotion Unit :

Study, draft, and sign documents related to scientific research, or submit them to the management team for comments/signature.

Study regulations, principles, legislation, and provisions regarding scientific research.

Announce calls for research project proposals under various funding sources as notified by higher authorities.

Organize meetings to review, select, or prioritize scientific research project proposals at the faculty level.

Submit project proposals of selected or prioritized faculty-level researchers to the National University of Laos.

Monitor the research progress of teachers and researchers who receive research grants under various funding sources.

Plan, organize meetings, and hold exhibitions to disseminate the scientific research findings of the faculty's researchers and teachers to internal staff, teachers, and society.

Compile and summarize scientific research papers and publications in various journals by researchers and lecturers of the Faculty of Natural Sciences to report to higher authorities and relevant sectors.

Issue notices for submitting research papers for publication in the Lao Journal of Science and Technology, issue notices for publication fee payments, collect publication fees, manage funds for related operations, issue certificates of publication and editing, and print journal volumes.

Oversee the overview, guide individual tasks, and inspect operations and procedural correctness regarding research paper submissions, create promotional posters, check research paper structure and formatting compliance, send research papers to peer reviewers as assigned by the editorial board, forward peer-review feedback to researchers, send and receive the final revised papers before uploading to the journal web system for the editorial board, upload the journal to the website, update book covers, and maintain the website.

2.2 The Academic Services Unit :

Study, draft, and sign documents related to academic services, or submit them to the management team for comments/signature.

Study regulations, principles, legislation, and provisions regarding academic services, such as revenue allocation methods, financial obligations, and management methods for various academic services.

Monitor services, track financial obligations of service providers, and collect and record financial data of academic services.

Coordinate with relevant sectors to find ways to manage academic copyright and intellectual property resulting from the work of researchers and lecturers in the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

Contact and coordinate with various public and private organizations interested in and requiring the academic services of researchers and lecturers in the Faculty of Natural Sciences, in order to propose feasibility studies to the management team for signing Academic Service Cooperation Agreements.

Encourage and promote teachers in the Faculty of Natural Sciences to provide academic services to society, as well as monitor and push for the fulfillment of financial obligations according to the rates specified by legislation.

Encourage and promote lecturers in the Faculty of Natural Sciences to write and compile documents and textbooks for various levels of teaching and learning, as well as scientific and technological documents for publication and distribution to society.

Coordinate with departments to identify and utilize the potential within the departments and the faculty to launch various academic services, and create scientific products and innovations for distribution to society.

Collect data, evaluate, and extract lessons learned regarding the implementation of academic services under various projects within the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

Perform other related duties or tasks as assigned.
2.3 The Cooperation and International Relations Unit :

Study, draft, and sign documents related to cooperation and international relations, or submit them to the management team for comments/signature.

Prepare draft cooperation documents at various levels, and process approvals through each step for the Dean to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) or Memorandums of Agreement (MOA) for domestic, external, and international cooperation.

Coordinate details with various domestic and international parties intending to visit and work at the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

Organize meetings to meet and exchange cooperation work with various parties.

Organize and participate in signing ceremonies for cooperation agreements with various parties, and monitor and join relevant cooperative activities.

Announce exchange scholarships and short-term/long-term training opportunities, process submission documents, provide information, and facilitate related paperwork.

Process approval documents for faculty lecturers and staff traveling to attend meetings, seminars, training sessions, or further education both domestically and abroad.

Process documents for visas, stay permits, work permits, and other requirements for experts, volunteers, and students coming to conduct academic activities, research, training for teachers, or assisting with teaching in the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

Collect statistical data regarding cooperation with various domestic, foreign, and international sectors to report to higher authorities.
