The Department of Mathematics and Statistics is a department within the Faculty of Natural Sciences, which was established along with the founding of the National University of Laos in 1996, and has conducted teaching and learning ever since. The department has taught students to become highly capable scholars/professionals with solid knowledge and practical skills that enable them to solve real-world problems, taught them to have correct ethics, to be leaders in development, to be professionals in scientific research, and to help them continue their higher education to further develop their careers and become research experts in the government and private sectors. In addition to these processes, educational documents/materials also utilize mathematical and statistical knowledge to promote scientific research that supports the socio-economic development of the nation.
