Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry was established along with the founding of the National University of Laos in 1996, in order to meet the demands of both public and private labor markets at national and
international levels. Furthermore, it represents a significant potential for socio-economic development. Initially, the Department of Chemistry opened a Bachelor's degree program in Chemistry. Afterward, in the academic year 2012–2013, it opened the Environmental Chemistry major.
From the academic year 2018–2019 onwards, it opened a Master of Science program in Chemistry. The Department of Chemistry has carried out its academic duties in teaching and learning alongside other sectors within the Faculty of Natural Sciences, to develop human resources into scientific professionals with highly skilled academic expertise, robust capabilities in scientific research, and responsibility toward society.
Graduated students can pursue various careers such as: chemical technicians, environmental officers, researchers, and educators or teachers across different sectors, including: industry, energy and mining, educational institutions, and public health. Moreover, they can continue higher education in related fields both domestically and abroad.
