1. Role
-
To act as a secretariat to the Dean of the Faculty in drafting educational development plans for the Faculty.
-
To act as a secretariat to the Dean of the Faculty in academic administration, as well as proposing plans for creating and improving the enrollment/registration system.
-
To manage, study, and monitor the utilization of academic and government budgets allocated for the implementation of curriculum projects, curriculum improvement, and new curriculum development.
-
To act as a secretariat to the Dean of the Faculty in drafting academic quality improvement plans to meet social needs; creating and managing systems for teaching-learning evaluation and academic results management; creating and managing educational quality assurance systems; and implementing regulations and legislation related to academic affairs.
2. Duties
-
Conduct registration, manage, collect statistics, and maintain the student database across the entire Faculty of Natural Sciences (FNS).

Arrange teaching and learning schedules for all programs and systems.
-
Process documentation and manage student suspensions and leaves of absence.
-
Summarize plans and manage requirements for classrooms and laboratories.
-
Organize mid-term/final examinations, graduation examinations, and final thesis/project defenses.
-
Draft operational plans, monitor, and collect data regarding the execution of final graduation projects and graduation examinations within the Faculty.

Manage academic regulations and provisions (examination rules, classroom/laboratory rules, leave policies, suspension policies, and other relevant regulations).
-
Manage student grades, draft transcripts, certificates, or various reference letters related to academic affairs.
-
Establish educational quality assurance systems, and conduct measurements and evaluations for all academic operations.
-
Collect, summarize, and plan the printing of textbooks and various instructional reference materials.
-
Draft budget plans, collect data regarding student internships, secure internship locations, and conduct follow-ups and inspections of internships.

Collect student statistics, manage student records, certificate, and degrees for eligible graduates, and take the lead in organizing graduation rehearsals and commencement ceremonies.

Manage all curricula, and plan improvements as well as the development of necessary new curricula (Bachelor’s degree level).

Administer and manage the academic budget and certain government budgets related to academic affairs.
-
Summarize budget proposals for academic equipment, overall examination services, and all teaching remuneration (for regular semesters and additional/third semesters).

Monitor, gather, and review documents for budget disbursement requests across academic blocks of various sectors.
-
Draft budget plans for evaluating and inspecting the implementation of all curricula.
-
Formulate plans and propose necessary academic training workshops within the FNS.
-
Administer, manage, and service the FNS Library.
-
Manage rules, legislation, and regulations of the National University of Laos (NUOL), and implement specific sections of these regulations regarding certain academic activities, such as teaching fees, examinations, final graduation projects, graduation exams, student internships, and other related academic policies.
3. Scope of Authority

Collect, summarize, and propose meetings to research and provide recommendations on the strategic plans of the FNS.

Collect, summarize, and propose meetings regarding curriculum improvement, new curriculum development, and the improvement/development of the registration system and other related matters.

Propose meetings to improve, implement, and disseminate regulations related to academic affairs.
-
Propose initiatives to promote excellent teaching and excellent learning, handle commendations for outstanding performers, and enforce disciplinary actions against those who violate academic regulations.

Study and propose adjustments to academic policies for instructors and students to ensure relevance and alignment with the regulations set forth by NUOL.
-
Administer, manage, and allocate various budgets within one's scope of responsibility.
-
Propose meetings to research and provide recommendations on educational measurement, evaluation, and teaching-learning quality development work.
-
Act as the secretary of the Faculty Academic Council.
